Breeding definitely presents its difficulties but one thing that is absolutely priceless is the joy of pitbull puppies. They are so adorable and adventurous - you can't help but love them. Every moment they are awake pitbull puppies soak in the world around them, observing, learning and exploring. As breeders, we get to enjoy those first 8 weeks. We keep the puppies out of trouble, introduce them to solid food, familiarize them with human contact and small children. But what about when you get your puppy?
Grooming and other hygienic care may not be the most wonderful part of owning a dog but it's necessary to have a happy, healthy pitbull that will love you for years. Thankfully, grooming for pitbulls is fairly easy. Unfortunately though, some pitbulls can make it very clear that it's not their favorite part either. What exactly should be part of that routine? And how can you make everything as painless as possible or maybe even enjoyable?
OK, maybe it's not quite that simple. But a lack of exercise is often the root of many behavior problems. Everything from barking to chewing and more can be a result of your pitbull being frustrated due to not getting enough exercise. Truthfully, you can't expect a pitbull to be a perfect, sweet, and obedient member of your family if you're not giving him the exercise he needs. So, pitbulls are great family dogs, but you have to do your part as well.
"Brush your teeth before you go to bed!!!" If you have kids, I'm sure you or your spouse has yelled that to them at some point in their life. Tooth and gum health is just as important for your pitbull. The condition of a dog's teeth indicate not only his age but also his health. Rotting and decaying teeth can lead to other problems and once they get to a certain point can cost lots of money to fix. So what steps can you take now to maintain or improve the health of your pitbull's mouth?
Some subjects inevitably arouse strong and passionate feelings whenever they are brought up. Besides politics and religion, another subject that polarizes people is pitbulls. Considering that you are on a pitbull website right now, you likely love the breed and find them to be loyal, wonderful members of the family. However, you have, no doubt, been a party to some discussions - maybe even heated ones- with people who feel quite the opposite, people who may even believe that these so-called 'menaces' should be banned from the community.
As a pitbull breeder and owner for nearly twelve years, the most common question I often receive via email, phone call, or with a visit, is, how do I keep my pitbull healthy? With this question appearing more often as pitbull lovers and all dog owners want to prolong their pets lives, I summed up a list of a top 10 ways to keep your dog healthy.
A calm, mild-tempered pitbull can do a world of good in clearing away the many misconceptions about this wonderful breed. We often get stopped by people asking if they can pet our dogs as we walk through the park or the pet store. Some people who are not familiar with the look of a bully pitbull are surprised to find out they’ve had their hand so close to a “deadly” pitbull. Some of my favorite moments are the dumbfounded look of shock that shows on the faces of many people as they process that information.
